Regulators

Regulators are valves that control the pressure of a fluid or gas to a desired (safe) value. They are integral devices that have pressure settings, restrictors, and sensors all in one body or consist of separate pressure sensors, controllers, and flow valves. A gas pressure regulator is a control device that maintains a defined pressure of a system by cutting off the flow of a gas or liquid when it reaches a set pressure. Pressure regulators come in several types and configurations and they provide control in a variety of applications in oil and gas processing. Specialty gas regulators are used to reduce high-pressure specialty gas from a cylinder or process line to a lower pressure suitable for use.

DCG offers both Brass and Stainless-Steel Regulators. Brass regulators are used for non-corrosive specialty gases, while Stainless-Steel Regulators are recommended for mildly corrosive calibration gases and sulfurs. The materials of construction for a regulator is selected based on the properties and purity of the gas being used.

Brass is compatible with non-reactive gases. A choice of a barstock or forged body is available. Barstock body regulators have all wetted surfaces machined to a smooth finish which reduces the possibility of contamination. Forged body regulators are economical, however, their internal surface finishes are rough as compared to a barstock body.

Stainless steel is used with gases that are considered reactive. 316L stainless steel is highly corrosion resistant and is suitable for use with many of the highly corrosive gases in their anhydrous form. Due to the nature of the chemicals, these regulators are only available in a barstock body.

DCG Partnership offers Automatic Switchover Manifolds, which are designed to supply a continuous flow of high purity, non-corrosive, or corrosive gas to our customers’ applications. The system comes with either flexible hoses for use with two cylinders or manifold connectors for use with the Maniflex Modular Manifold System. Due to pressure differential considerations, an integral line regulator is available to maintain constant downstream pressure. When the primary source is empty, these changeovers automatically switch to a secondary supply, thus eliminating pressure fluctuations, outages and wasted gas.
